I Want to be a Veternarian, what major should I choose...? - answer! Answers

I Want to be a Veternarian, what major should I choose...?

for my first four years of college I have two options for majors:

Animal Science (Studies based on cows, pigs, horses, etc.)

or

Zoology (Animals in general)

I want to be a small animal veternarian (treat only cats and dogs) but the animal science curriculum looks interesting. Which should I choose?

If you are planning on attending vet school, it probably doesn't matter - take whatever interests you. Just make sure you take the necessary courses for admission. Check the websites of a couple vet schools you may be interested in to see what they require. If your major doesn't require some intro biology, chemistry, and physics, you'll probably have to take those courses to get admitted.

Also, keep in mind that vet school is extremely competitive. Keep your grades up.

thanks, and who knows maybe if I take Animal Science I'll see that I am more interested in becoming a large animal vet and I'm a freshmen right now and I get A's and B's but I don't really pay attention in class so I'm gonna pay more attention and focus and hopefully I'll get straight A's! :)
